VISITING MERCY – ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA
This past weekend, our team had a heartwarming visit to Mercy N.’s family. Mercy, a brave 12-year-old battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, expressed her excitement in seeing us. Her simple wish for a doll touched our hearts, and we made sure to fulfill it by gifting her a doll and a beautiful dress for Christmas.
During this festive season, we understand the importance of inclusivity. When Mercy’s mom shared their need to clear 5 months’ rent totaling Kes 25,000 ($250), with Kes 5,000 being their monthly rent, we realized the urgency of their situation. Despite our initial budget constraints, we went beyond providing food to assist with essential items like soap to support the family.
I personally pledged to help with the rent, knowing the community’s kindness will come through for this deserving family. If you feel compelled to support them in securing their shelter during this challenging time, please reach out to me, Dr. Awuor (Candid Diana), at +13022989090 or +254757116363.
While we are grateful for the donations that have enabled us to bring joy to these families, we are optimistic about the future. We eagerly anticipate our upcoming visits to four more children next weekend. A special thank you to all our donors (Santas) for making these moments of kindness possible. If you wish to join us in spreading cheer to these children, feel free to connect with us. December 23rd is the last day for these visits
VISITING KEVIN – STAGE IV SOFT TISSUE SARCOMA
SANTA VISITS: A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER
Kevin was our third cancer patient to visit. Even though our program targets kids, we included Kevin because he had been a beneficiary of our Mindful Feeding Initiative for a while as he undergoes treatment for Stage IV Soft Tissue Sarcoma. We delivered healthy food groceries to him on a monthly basis except for the past two months as we restructure the program (we will announce the pleasant surprise soon).
At Kevin’s, we had a wonderful time in-person and virtually. He got our HOPE GANG t-shirt, a gift in an envelope, and grocery shopping that will help him with his pastry business and daily use for the remaining part of December.
Our Mindful Feeding Initiative, which is a partnership between Mindful Food Program Inc and International Pleroma Convocation, continues to positively impact the community. For partnerships or support, please contact us through info@ipc-africa.org or admin@mfprogram.org
VISITING JAYDEN – ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKIMIA
SANTA VISITS: A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER
Eleven years old Jayden O. was also a beneficiary of our Santa visits this past Saturday. He is undergoing treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Kenya.
During the visit to his family, which I was part of virtually, I asked his dad “what does your family need for this Christmas to help you all?” I was thinking about food. But he said “soap, please. soap to wash and clean.” I am glad no one could notice the tears welling in my eyes. As one who has gone through breast cancer, I valued the courtesy of asking me what I needed than making assumptions.
Jayden got his Christmas wish, a ball. His dad also went shopping with our team. He kept saying how grateful he was. We are very grateful to all our donors for making this possible.
Two more kids will be visited today, Sunday (in just a few hours). Please reach out to me on +1302-298-9090 in case you are able to sponsor part of the associated costs.
