What does MFP entail?
About The Program
Mindful Food Program (MFP), was initiated by Dr. Diana Carole Awuor. This program began in 2022, right after Dr. Awuor completed her own Breast Cancer treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. At MFP, we aim to reduce the detrimental effects of chemotherapy on the physical and mental health of the patient through offering Healthy Nutrition Education and Support in response to the increasing global demand for personalized nutrition plans from cancer patients. MFP creates awareness about the importance of healthy nutrition, demonstrates portion control, and develops affordable weekly meal plans tailored to patients’ cultural preferences.
Nutritional support is provided through food banks across five regions in Kenya, where patients or caregivers can collect uncooked healthy foods, including balad fresh vegetables, grains, healthy starches, dried berries, and recommended fruits, primarily donated by farmers.
